Memory Care
Mount Olivet Careview Home and Mount Olivet Home offer two levels of care for residents dealing with memory issues. Over 15 years ago, Mount Olivet Careview Home opened a secured unit serving residents with middle- to end-stage, memory loss, Alzheimer's and other dementia-related illnesses. In 2005, Mount Olivet Home opened a secured unit for residents with early-stage, memory loss, Alzheimer's and other dementia-related illnesses. Residents in these units are offered a full spectrum of therapeutic recreational (TR) activities, seven days a week, that enhances residents' cognitive, physical, emotional, social, and spiritual needs. Please contact Tom Litecky at 612-821-3193 or tlitecky@mtolivethomes.org for more information or to schedule a tour.
Programs include: weekly worship services, intergenerational groups, trivia, table and active games, exercise, baking, arts/crafts, memory games, movies, parties, special events, entertainment both on and off the unit, music activities, pet visits, 1:1 visits, and special meals. Leisure activities that were favorites before nursing home placement are adapted to the resident's abilities. Community and facility outings are offered and residents participate based on their comfort level.
The Caregiver Support Group provides education and encouragement to families and meets in the family lounge the third Tuesday of each month. Watch the monthly Highlights publication for the summer meeting schedule.
For special events and family gatherings with your loved one, the third floor family lounge at Mount Olivet Careview Home is available for scheduling. Please contact the nursing staff to arrange.
