Sen. Amy Klobuchar visit
Posted: Monday, March 3, 2025, 6:29pm in:On February 2nd, Mount Olivet Careview Home had the privilege of hosting U.S. Senator Amy Klobuchar to celebrate key milestones of the Inflation Reduction Act. Last month, the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) unveiled the list of 15 drugs that Medicare will now be able to negotiate prices with pharmaceutical companies. In her speech, Senator Klobuchar highlighted that the 10 drugs announced in August 2024 alone are expected to save seniors around $1.5 billion by 2026.
Mount Olivet Careview Home is honored to be a part of this important achievement, which Senator Klobuchar
has been a steadfast advocate for. The press conference was kicked off by Griffin Myslivecek, Director of Healthcare Services, who welcomed Senator Klobuchar. We also heard from Dawn Simonson, Executive Director of Trellis, the area agency on aging for the Twin Cities, who discussed the positive impacts this change will have on seniors. Janet, a Mount Olivet TCU patient, shared her personal connections to Senator Klobuchar and spoke about the impact the prescription drug negotiations will have on her. Christopher Horne, Mount Olivet Careview TCU Admissions Coordinator, gave an insightful breakdown of how these changes will affect admissions to skilled nursing homes, the challenges seniors face due to high medication costs, and the broader economic impact on hospitals and the healthcare system.
