Within each person is a desire for meaning and purpose in life. The chaplaincy department seeks to encourage each resident to continue developing meaningful relationships with self, God and others throughout the Mount Olivet community. A variety of spiritual experiences are provided for nearly 300 people from over 70 congregations.
Protestant and Catholic worship services of Holy Communion are scheduled weekly. A weekly service for residents with late stages of memory loss illness focuses on unlocking meaningful faith experiences. Bible studies are scheduled at Mount Olivet Home, on each floor at Mount Olivet Careview Home and at Mount Olivet Day Services. Worship services of Holy Communion are offered twice monthly for Mount Olivet Day Services adult participants.
The director of spiritual care, the pastors and chaplaincy volunteers visit regularly with residents. The director of spiritual care attends initial care conferences and is actively involved in the interdisciplinary approach of developing each resident's care plan. Chaplaincy also provides leadership for the interdisciplinary end-of-life Special Care Program that provides extra support to residents and their families.
The chaplaincy department is available for meeting with residents and families.
