Friends Program

Chaplain Lana Gilster invites you to consider volunteering for the Friends Program at Mount Olivet Home and Mount Olivet Careview Home.

The Friends is an interdenominational caregiver program designed to reach out in friendship to the residents of our large ecumenical community at Mount Olivet Home and Mount Olivet Careview Home. It is a volunteer program for any adult willing to share time and give support to our residents. The Friends assist in providing a family-like atmosphere for our residents.
 

Each Friend visits one or more residents at Mount Olivet Home or Mount Olivet Careview Home. Time commitment will vary depending on the needs of the resident and volunteer. Volunteers in the Friends go through an interview process to determine their interest and compatibility with our residents. Monthly training sessions led by the director of spiritual care provide information and support. Practical help and resources are available and timely tips concerning healthy caregiving are discussed. Training sessions are scheduled over lunch on the second Tuesday of the month.
